NBA legends LeBron James and Kevin Durant railed against President Trump in a video released Thursday, saying the president doesn’t care about the American people and doesn’t know the first thing about effective leadership.
The video released by UNINTERRUPTED was filmed last month as journalist Cari Champion drove the basketball duo around Mr. James‘ hometown of Akron, Ohio. In the wide-ranging discussion, Ms. Champion asked the Cavaliers star about the political climate in America, referring to his tweet in September that called Mr. Trump a “bum.”

U bum @StephenCurry30 already said he ain’t going! So therefore ain’t no invite. Going to White House was a great honor until you showed up!

“The climate is hot,” Mr. James responded. “The No. 1 job in America, the appointed person is someone who doesn’t understand the people. And really don’t give a f– about the people. When I was growing up, there was like three jobs that you looked for inspiration … It was the president of the United States, it was whoever was best in sports and then it was the greatest musician at the time. You never thought you could be them, but you can grab inspiration from them.
“And this time, right now, with the president of the United States, it’s at a bad time,” he continued. “While we cannot change what comes out of that man’s mouth, we can continue to alert the people that watch us, that listen to us, as this is not the way.
“It’s not even a surprise when he says something. It’s like, laughable, and it’s scary,” he added.
Mr. Durant agreed, saying Mr. Trump is a poor leader for the country.
“When we’re talking about leadership, and what’s going on in our country, it’s all about leadership,” Mr. Durant said. “And I learned that from basketball. I learned a lot of life skills from playing basketball. You need to empower people, you need to encourage people. And that’s what builds a great team. And I feel like our team as a country is not ran by a great coach.”
