The anchor for Iowa’s “Good Morning Quad Cities,” Angie Sharp, struggled with the pronunciation of 2020 Democratic candidate Sen. Amy Klobuchar’s (D-MN) last name during a segment highlighting her recent presidential campaign announcement on Monday.
“And the list of candidates continues to grow, with Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar announced she’s also running for president,” Sharp said, clearly struggling to pronounce Klobuchar’s last name.

Klobuchar would hope that an Iowa reporter would know how to pronounce her last name, given that she is the senator from the neighboring state of Minnesota.
But Democratic strategists like David Axelrod have said that Klobuchar faces many obstacles in her 2020 run, including name recognition.
Her style is appealingly straight-forward, sensible and leavened with humor. And the. nominating process begins in Iowa, just across the border from Minnesota. @amyklobuchar faces many obstacles, including money and name rec, but you can see her theory of the case.

This reporter’s struggle demonstrates just shows how far Klobuchar still has to go on that front.
