The Biden administration has been secretly flying migrants who crossed into the U.S. illegally along the border with Mexico to Florida in dozens of late-night flights, according to reports.
According to Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis’ office, the Biden administration has sent more than 70 migrant-filled flights to an airport in Jacksonville under the cover of darkness as the Department of Homeland Security “struggles to empty overflowing border facilities,” the Washington Examiner reported.
The outlet went on to report that the numbers of flights cited by DeSantis’ office are the first the state has disclosed since the summer as DeSantis has frantically worked over the past several weeks to find out who is facilitating the secret flights that are landing daily in northern Florida. However, the administration hasn’t been forthcoming with that information, one official told the Examiner.
“Over 70 air charter flights [on] jetliner airliners coming from the southwest border have landed at Jacksonville International Airport,” Larry Keefe, DeSantis’s public safety chief, said. “On average, there’s 36 passengers on each of these flights. And that has been going on over the course of the summer through September.”
Keefe was appointed the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Florida by former President Donald Trump and left his position in February after the Biden administration took office. He went on to say that the Department of Homeland Security, the Justice Department, and the Department of Health and Human Resources are refusing to tell Florida officials who is in charge of the migrant flights, the names of people on the flights, and where migrants are being taken.
