A bill introduced in the Illinois General Assembly, should it pass, would punish businesses that work with the federal government to build the wall along the southern border.
CNS News reported:
A bill introduced Wednesday in the Illinois General Assembly would punish any businesses that help the federal government build a wall along the U.S. southern border by placing them on a “Prohibited Investment List” alongside companies that boycott Israel and do business with Sudan and Iran.
The proposed legislation submitted by Rep. Will Guzzardi (D-Chicago) would amend the Illinois Procurement Code to prohibit any state agency from “entering into a contract subject to the Code with a business that contracts with the federal government to build a wall along the border of Mexico and the United States of America.”
President-elect Donald Trump has made securing the border and combating illegal immigration a cornerstone of his campaign. Many voters chose Trump because of this promise and want to see law and order restored in this country.
Trump put forward a “10 Point Plan to Put America First,” in which the wall was the first point: “Begin working on an impenetrable physical wall on the southern border, on day one. Mexico will pay for the wall.”
This move by Illinois lawmakers is absolutely insane. Apparently they don’t think this country should be allowed to protect itself. Surely none of these lawmakers lock their doors or have fences around their homes. They should practice an open borders policy personally if they think the country as a whole should do so.
It’s interesting that leftists oppose a wall and border enforcement to the point that they would punish a business for working with the federal government, yet it’s likely that many of these same leftists blasted Christians that have called for an end of public funding for Planned Parenthood.
For many Christians, we simply don’t want to pay for something that we find morally objectionable. For leftists, they want to punish someone because they simply don’t agree with them.
That’s the tolerant left for you.
