A Florida man has been arrested in his home state in connection with the series of mail bombs sent this week, according to a report Friday.
The New York Post reports,
The suspect was taken into federal custody in the city of Plantation for sending at least 12 suspicious packages containing what appears to be pipe bombs to high-level Democrats and critics of President Trump, multiple sources told CNN.
The man is a former New Yorker in his 50s who has prior arrests for terrorist threats, Fox News reported.
DNA evidence played a role in helping investigators find the suspect, according to CBS News.
Law enforcement officers were gathered outside an Auto Zone in Plantation on Friday, taking away a white van covered in political stickers, according to local ABC affiliate WPLG.
Department of Justice spokeswoman Sarah Isgur Flores confirmed that one person was in custody and said authorities will hold a press conference Friday afternoon.
