Education Secretary Betsy DeVos claims she never watched “60 Minutes” before she agreed to do an interview with the news-magazine program and never will after Sunday night’s interview.
The interview
DeVos sat down with CBS’ Lesley Stahl who confronted her in the worst way about the current state of education in America.

DeVos’ reaction
DeVos accused Stahl of “gotcha journalism at its worst” in front of reporters on Monday and added that it was “very unfair of her [Stahl] to ask me so many questions about education.” DeVos also fired back at her critics on Twitter highlighting the parts of the interview DeVos says CBS left out.
Yet another thing you didn’t see on @60Minutes: I did respond to this misguided question. Every student should have the opportunity to learn in the way and at the pace that best fits their unique needs, regardless of zip code or family income. pic.twitter.com/LbXjOcSkH2

“I had never watched ‘60 Minutes’ before, but I can tell you this, I will never watch it again,” she said. “I have better things to do with a half hour of my time.”
Here’s what we shared with @60Minutes, which of course they didn’t show you: Michigan, like much of the nation, isn’t doing well enough to prepare students. Scores are stagnant. Students need more options, and we must rethink our approach to education. pic.twitter.com/GJ0kdI2GPE

“She asked me one thing about schools, and then another, and another,” she continued. “If I had to answer every question she had about schools, I would have had to bone up on education for a month.”
Also missing from @60Minutes: students at charter schools in Detroit are doing 2x better than their peers. The reforms are helping, but there’s so much more to do. We must help all students be better prepared for strong futures. https://t.co/nZ8iqHhLBd pic.twitter.com/xoiegl2VF1

What I hate is for kids to lose the opportunity to reach their fullest potential. I hate when private schools fail kids, when charter schools are bad actors, and any time that adults let student down. #60Minutes
