Leon Panetta should become a Republican again, Rudy Giuliani said Thursday, after the former CIA director and defense secretary was drowned out several times during his Democratic convention speech with chants of “no more war.”
“My reaction is, I have a friend who’s now deceased who was a judge in Philadelphia. He used to tell me every once in a while I don’t know why I’m a Republican, I get annoyed at the party. Then I watch a Democratic convention and I say to myself, now I know why I’m a Republican. That guy should become a Republican,” Giuliani remarked to “Fox & Friends.”
Co-host Brian Kilmeade pointed out that Panetta was a Republican. (Panetta switched to the Democratic Party in 1971, five years before winning his election to Congress.)
“Well, he should come back,” Giuliani remarked.
Turning his ire toward the protesters, he continued, “those people are so stupid it’s ridiculous.”
