Donald Trump’s campaign manager Kellyanne Conway suggested Hillary Clinton only has herself to blame for her private email server once again dominating the presidential race.
‘She set off that chain of events and she can’t escape that and she’s playing the victim now,’ Conway told Willie Geist on Sunday Today.
Daily Mail reports,
Since Friday’s revelation that the FBI was looking at more emails related to the Clinton case, found on sex pest Anthony Weiner’s computer, confiscated by authorities as part of an underage sexting investigation, team Clinton has pushed back, with the candidate herself calling FBI Director James Comey’s action ‘unprecedented.’
Conway didn’t like Clinton’s use of that word.
‘What we do know is when Hillary Clinton says “this is unprecedented” we should all remind ourselves that what’s unprecedented and indeed unnecessary is her having that private server in the first place,’ Trump’s campaign manager said.
She continued by defending Comey, who sent a letter up to Capitol Hill Friday telling members of congress that the FBI had found emails ‘pertinent to the investigation’ while working on an unrelated case and he wanted to update his testimony. He informed employees of the FBI of the same thing.
The unrelated case was one inspired by DailyMail.com’s reporting that found Weiner, the husband of Clinton’s close aide Huma Abedin, had been sexting with a 15-year-old girl.
‘It’s pretty strange to put something like that out with such little information right before an election,’ Clinton told supporters in Daytona Beach, Florida, on Friday. The crowd booed when the former secretary of state mentioned Comey’s letter.
Clinton also called the FBI director’s actions ‘deeply troubling.’
‘They are doing an all-out assault on FBI director Jim Comey,’ Trump’s campaign manager told Geist. ‘I mean really shooting the messenger, plus a full body-slam yesterday.’
Instead of bullying Comey, Conway suggested Clinton ‘could just ask Huma Abedin what is in those emails.’
She backed the FBI boss up again by saying, ‘Comey was in an impossible position in my view.’
‘Had he sat on the information he may as well have been interfering with the election as well,’ Conway said.
