Counselor to the President Kellyanne Conway is the leaving the Trump administration after working for the president since her role of campaign manager in 2016.
“Conway informed Trump of her decision Sunday night in the Oval Office,” The Washington Post reported. “Her husband George T. Conway III, a conservative lawyer and outspoken critic of the president, is also stepping back from his role on the Lincoln Project, an outside group of Republicans devoted to defeating Trump in November. He will also take a hiatus from Twitter, the venue he has often used to attack the president.”
Kellyanne made the surprise announcement at 10:27 p.m. Eastern time, just hours after the Trump campaign released their list of speakers for this week’s Republican National Convention.
Conway was scheduled to speak on August 26. It’s unclear if she’ll remain on the roster now.

In her resignation letter, Kellyanne said she’s leaving as as counselor to the President at the end of August to focus on her family, which has been rocked by embarrassing public bickering.
Conway wrote: “This is completely my choice and my voice. In time, I will announce future plans. For now, and for my beloved children, it will be less drama, more mama.”
Kellyanne explained that because of the coronavirus shutdowns, her four children will be remote-learning this fall, and that requires more hands-on parental involvement.
Bizpac Review adds,
Conway underscored that while she and her Trump-hating husband George disagree on many issues, they prioritize their children.
“We disagree about plenty, but we are united on what matters most: the kids,” Kellyanne said. “Our four children are teens and ‘tweens starting a new academic year, in middle school and high school, remotely from home for at least a few months. As millions of parents nationwide know, kids “doing school from home” requires a level of attention and vigilance that is as unusual as these times.”
Eleven minutes before Kellyanne announced her resignation, her husband George tweeted: “I’m withdrawing from the Lincoln Project to devote more time to family matters. And I’ll be taking a Twitter hiatus.”
The Lincoln Project is a tiny political action committee formed in 2019 by Trump-hating Republicans who vow to defeat Trump in November.
George’s Twitter break is noteworthy since he devotes all his time to trashing President Trump on the platform.
So I’m withdrawing from @ProjectLincoln to devote more time to family matters. And I’ll be taking a Twitter hiatus.
Needless to say, I continue to support the Lincoln Project and its mission. Passionately.
