Melania The Epitome Of Elegance In Navy Ensemble As Trumps Arrive In The UK [VIDEO]

June 3, 2019 by Kristie McDonald

Melania Trump had an elegant My First Lady moment as she joined the President at Buckingham Palace this afternoon.

After a quick change from her arrival outfit, the First Lady, 49, donned a white and navy ensemble reminiscent of the one worn by Audrey Hepburn in the classic Hollywood film for her first official engagement.

The Daily Mail Reports:

The white dress, a custom creation by Dolce & Gabbana, featured a contrast navy collar and waist belt that flattered Mrs Trump’s svelte figure. In a mark of respect for her royal hosts, the First Lady added a matching wide-brimmed hat and finished the look with a pair of towering Christian Louboutin stilettos.

The Presidential couple were welcomed to the palace by the Queen, Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall in a ceremony marking the official start of their three-day state visit.

President Trump’s daughter Ivanka and her husband Jared Kushner watched the arrival from the palace balcony.

In an apparently pre-planned move, Ivanka, 37, complemented Mrs Trump’s outfit in a white blazer and pleated skirt by royal-approved label Alessandra Rich.

The Duchess of Cornwall also plumped for white, wearing a classic knee-length shift dress with a beautiful hat, cream gloves and purse.

The royal tour already looks set to be a fashion show for Mrs Trump, who has sported three different looks in the last 24 hours.

The First Lady left the Andrews Air Force Base, in Maryland, on Sunday evening in a £3,480 ($4,400) Gucci shirt dress.

The designer frock was printed with a graphic illustration of the London skyline – an early nod to her hosts -complete with depictions of Tower Bridge and the Houses of Parliament.

Mrs Trump continued her Britannia-themed wardrobe on arrival at Stansted Airport this morning by changing into a £650 ($820) Burberry blouse printed with military medals.

The unusual pattern is an apparent tribute to the upcoming 75th anniversary of D-Day, which will be marked by the President and First Lady this week.

Mrs Trump wore the pussy-bow blouse – which is in the colours of the Union Jack – with a classic knee-length pencil skirt and matching blazer.

The skirt suit is believed to be the same Michael Kors set previously worn by Mrs Trump to the funeral of a Secret Service agent.

The President’s wife kept the rest of her look understated, pairing the navy skirt suit with vertiginous Christian Louboutin pumps in the same shade and a pair of chic black sunglasses.

Despite the blustery wind, Mrs Trump was typically composed as she stepped out onto the steps of Air Force One.

She joined her husband to wave from the top of the stairs before watching her step as she made her way down in the towering heels.

President Trump reached for his wife’s hand as they crossed the runway and made their way to the waiting Marine One helicopter, which took them to the US Ambassador’s residence in central London.

The couple boarded the helicopter once more to make the short flight to Buckingham Palace, where they landed on the lawn.

The couple are joining the Queen, Charles and Camilla for a private lunch at the palace. It is thought the Duke of Sussex will also attend. The Duchess of Sussex will not be present as she is currently on maternity leave.

After lunch, the President and First Lady will fly to Westminster Abbey, where they will lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Warrior. They will later join Charles for a brief meeting at Clarence House.

Tonight President and Mrs Trump will don their finery for a glittering state banquet, which will be attended by senior royals including the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

However the event has been boycotted by a handful of high profile figures including Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn.
