President Obama warned Americans on Saturday that it could be the final year millions of people experience enrollment season and are able to enroll in the government-subsidized healthcare program if the GOP-controlled Congress moves to repeal his legacy law under President-elect Trump.

“It’s the most wonderful time of the year — and not just because it’s the holiday season, but because it’s also open enrollment season over at healthcare.gov,” Obama said in his weekly address. “That was a dad joke, I know.”
The lame-duck president focused his address on what could happen if lawmakers choose to do away with Obamacare come January.
“Now Republicans in Congress want to repeal the whole thing and start from scratch — but trying to undo some of it could undo all of it,” Obama said. “So any partisan talk you hear about repealing or replacing it should be judged by whether they keep all those improvements that benefit you and your family right now.”
Instead, Obama wants President-elect Trump and conservative lawmakers to “build on the progress” his administration has made. Despite subtly comparing the plan in October to the recalled Samsung Galaxy Note 7, Obama has urged them to improve the law that insures 20 million people.
Republicans in Congress, concerned with Obama subsidies and rising premiums, are looking at ways to repeal the law, though may delay taking apart completely until they can devise a suitable replacement.
Obama encouraged the public to sign up soon and not wait until the end of January, when Trump takes office.
