Congresswoman-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) mistakenly accused Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) of hypocrisy for saying wasn’t bothered by accusations that President Donald Trump lied about his alleged affairs even though he voted to impeach former President Bill Clinton.
During a recent appearance on Fox News, Graham compared Trump’s potential impeachment with that of Clinton’s:
“He’s always under siege. He is saying this one minute and that the next. It’s what he does that matters. He is like every other person. Bill Clinton lied about having sexual relationships with that woman. I voted against that article of impeachment because I think most people, blindsided, would lie to protect their family. I’m the one Republican who voted against that article of impeachment because I think the average person in that circumstance would be compelled to lie.”
“Lying about sex wasn’t enough then for me and it’s not enough now,” he added.
However, Ocasio-Cortez tweeted out a link to an article, pointing out what she thought was an example of Lindsey’s double-standard:
Didn’t he impeach Bill Clinton over the same thing? https://t.co/FOP9Q3iIDW

The congresswoman-elect clearly did not read the article very well, as the author makes it obvious that Graham did not support Clinton’s impeachment solely due to “lying about sex”:
“When Graham noted that he was the only Republican who voted against ‘that article of impeachment,’ he was referring to the House Judiciary Committee vote in the perjury charge related to the Paula Jones case. The then-congressman said at the time he was giving Clinton ‘the legal benefit of the doubt’ because of confusion surrounding the definition of ‘sexual relations.’”
Furthermore, Twitter users also quickly pointed out that Ocasio-Cortez was wrong, noting that Clinton’s lies in regard to Monica Lewinsky were under oath and that Graham voted to impeach him on those counts of “grand jury perjury and obstruction of justice”:

This is yet another example of the lack of research and attention to detail Ocasio-Cortez gives to her talking points.
