Eric Trump says his father’s trip to Scotland for the reopening of their Turnberry golf course was about supporting him, even though that’s not how Hillary Clinton is spinning it.
‘He didn’t touch a golf club in the 36 hours that he was there,’ he said this morning on Fox and Friends.
She’s the one who should be embarrassed, the 32-year-old Trump Organization executive said, talking about the Brexit vote.
‘My father called it right,’ Eric Trump stated. ‘Once again she got it wrong,’ he argued later in the interview.
Friday, Donald Trump held a news conference at Turnberry in Scotland, hours after Britian voted to cut ties with the European Union.
The Clinton campaign and others criticized him for remarking that pound would go down in value as a result of Britain’s departure from the EU and that would benefit his business.
‘When the pound goes down, more people are gonna come to Turnberry, frankly, and the pound has gone down, and let’s see what the impact of that is,’ Trump said.
The Clinton campaign seized on the comment, proclaiming on a call with reporters that it was new evidence that Trump is an egomaniac with a ‘pathological’ tenancy toward self-congratulation.
It launched a new national television ad on Sunday that has Trump swinging a golf club as the commercial’s narrator accuses the billionaire of looking for ways to profit off crises.
Eric Trump noted Monday on Fox that the footage of his father golfing is not from the Scotland trip.
‘It’s amazing, totally unrelated, he was there to support me.’
Trump’s son said, ‘Hillary tried to spin it like he was out there playing golf. He was out there supporting me with a project that I was opening.
‘No different than I go to every single debate to support him…that’s what families do.’
Continuing he said, ‘I love him, and he loves me, and that’s what we do for each other.’
