GOOD MORNING BRITAIN presenter Piers Morgan launched into a tirade against the hordes of people lining up to protest American President Donald Trump during his state visit today.
Appearing on the ITV programme alongside his co-host Susanna Reid this morning, opinionated and vocal presenter Piers Morgan didn’t hesitate to blast the hundreds of thousands of activists pledging to swarm the London streets in demonstrations this week.
The host angrily called the British protesters “disrespectful and pathetic”.
The presenter’s argument was that Trump’s visit is coinciding with the 75th anniversary of D-Day, and the protests against his arrival are disrespecting the importance of the commemoration.
It’s been revealed more than 20,000 police officers will be posted at 20 different locations across the country during the visit, and in London today activists are planning to launch a 20ft blimp of Donald Trump into the sky.
The blimp will be depicting the President as a giant baby.
However the largest protest is set to take place close to Buckingham Palace today from 5.30pm onwards, as the Queen will be holding a state banquet for Trump and First Lady Melania Trump this evening.
What’s more, organisers of the protests have claimed 250,000 people will march from Trafalgar Square to Parliament Square in an attempt to shut down the capital city tomorrow.
Morgan’s main frustration over the plans were that they seemingly ignored the President’s main reason for coming to Britain.
Commemorating both American and British people who lost their lives in the D-Day battle 75 years ago – he called the demonstrations ‘disrespectful and pathetic’.
“There’s something a bit warped about our values,” the presenter went on. “Is Trump really worse than Putin and King Salman?
“The Americans fought and died alongside us on D Day.”
Also during today’s edition of the breakfast programme, Morgan entered into a furious debate with Asad Rehman and Freddie Gray about President Trump and his arrival in the UK.
The presenter insisted he was passionate about “fairness” and was particularly annoyed by the “hypocrisy” when there weren’t protests over former President Barack Obama’s state visit.
“You want to be his Chief of Staff,” Rehman declared, as Morgan shook his head in response.
“No I don’t want to be his Chief of Staff, I just want to be fair-minded,” he said. “The man who is so morally outraged by Donald Trump literally has no idea [how many immigrants Obama deported].
“When you abuse Trump over immigration policy – let me tell you.
“He deported over three million illegal immigrants in three years.
“[Obama] was known as the Deporter-in-chief in Mexico,” he added, and the fiery debate continued on as both men were at polar opposites over the current US President.
