“There’s no plans in this moment of changing that,” Incoming White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus told ABC’s “This Week.”
The Hill reports,
Democrats confronted Comey on Friday over Russia’s hacking of Democratic National Committee (DNC) email accounts, with one lawmaker calling on Comey to resign.
Sources told The Hill that Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) told Comey that he should have come to her directly once the FBI was aware of the breach, just as he had done with other hacking victims. Wasserman Schultz was forced to resign last summer as head of the DNC amid the hacking scandal.
Priebus maintained on Sunday that Comey, who was confirmed as FBI head in 2013 for a term that lasts 10 years, will continue in his role.
“We’ve had a great relationship with him over the last several weeks. And he’s extremely competent,” Priebus said.
