From The Hill
Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus lauded Donald Trump as the “right man” to fight Hillary Clinton as he relied on a heavy dose of Democrat-bashing to unite the convention on its final night.
Declaring that “Americans have had enough” of the Clintons, Priebus called Trump the solution to what’s ailing the country.
“Donald Trump is the right man to lead that charge,” Priebus said.
“Let’s stand united as Republicans, let’s stop Hillary Clinton!”
He told delegates they “can kiss their gun rights goodbye” if the presumptive Democratic nominee wins; that her presidency will be defined by “forgetting our friends and enabling our enemies;” and said she “used her post as secretary of State to grease the wheels for Democrat lobbyists, special interests, and political insiders connected to the corrupt Clinton machine.”
“She lied, and she lied over and over and over again,” Priebus said as the convention went wild and started shouting “lock her up,” a popular refrain during this year’s Republican National Convention.
In his push for party unity, Priebus praised Trump’s nomination as a victory for the grassroots while casting the Democrats as beholden to the party elites that helped boost Clinton’s presidential bid.
“Democrats depend on superdelegates and bureaucrats to sneak their agenda through the backdoor,” he said.
“We are the party of the grassroots. We honor what the voters say.”
He lauded Trump’s business record, his ability to bring “millions” into the party, his commitment to national security and framed him as a leader concerned about the everyman.
