Leftist Rosie O’Donnell said she wanted the U.S. military to “get” President Donald Trump during an MSNBC panel discussion on Thursday, saying that Trump was “evil” and “dark.”
“It gives me such comfort and hope to hear people who I before described as not my people, giving me a little bit of hope to think to myself, there are people who still feel this way and believe this way that we’re going to right this ship,” O’Donnell said. “We’re going to right this ship. There’s no way he’s going to prevail. Because he’s evil, he’s dark. It’s the opposite of what America stands for. One light in the darkness, one candle is all it takes.”
“I actually got physically sick that night,” O’Donnell later said, describing her reaction to the 2016 election. “I thought to myself, this cannot be happening. When he got the nomination, I thought I just have to wait until election day … and then he won. It took a good year to compose myself to be in public again. I took a year out of the spotlight.”
“What I wrote on Twitter was we should impose martial law until we make sure the Russians weren’t involved in the final tally of the votes,” O’Donnell continued. “People were like, ‘martial law, what’s wrong with you? You are a lunatic …’ I want to send the military to the White House to get him.”
The Daily Wire reports,
MSNBC analyst Eugene Robinson laughed and said that O’Donnell’s wish was a “pretty good idea.”
Promoting violence against members of the Trump administration happens frequently on MSNBC.
In May, MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace said she wanted to “wring” White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders’ “neck” after she declined to comment on a report that was circulating in the media.
Earlier this month Wallace revealed that she encouraged then-presidential candidate Jeb Bush to physically attack Donald Trump.
“I told Jeb Bush after the debate that I thought he should have punched him in the face,” Wallace said. “Even if you lost, he insulted your wife, he came down the escalator and called Mexicans rapists and murderers.”
“He said, ‘What do you think I should have done?'” Wallace continued. “I said, ‘I think you should have punched him in the face and then gotten out of the race. You would have been a hero.'”
