Selena Gomez gave an emotionally charged performance during the Miami leg of her Revival tour following the death of her close friend Christina Grimmie.
The 23-year-old singer dedicated song ‘Transfiguration’ to the 22-year-old who was tragically shot and killed by a fan in Florida last Friday evening.
Speaking to the audience, a visibly shaken and emotional Selena paid tribute to her close friend, saying: “When she was 14, we met her and my parents and I signed her.
“One thing about Christina and her family is that she holds her faith so closely to her. And I think it’s not about a religion and it’s not about anything or good deeds.
“It’s just that she had faith, and I don’t really understand how this really happened, but I would like to dedicate this next song to her.”
Selena was unable to finish song ‘Nobody’ ahead of the tribute, apologising to the audience as she broke down in tears.
On Saturday morning, Selena tweeted a picture of herself with Grimmie, alongside the caption: “My heart is absolutely broken. I miss you Christina.”
