Senator John Kennedy Slams Ocasio Cortez Over Border Hypocrisy: “she’s more famous than she is wise” [VIDEO]

June 26, 2019 by Liberty Bugle Team

Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) spoke out against Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) for her unwillingness to work with Republicans on the border crisis during an interview with Fox News on Monday.

.@AOC‘s hypocrisy is breathtaking. On the one hand, she says the migrant facilities at the border are run like concentration camps, & at the same time she refuses to vote for the funding that will improve those facilities. I’m beginning to think she’s more famous than she is wise pic.twitter.com/kFqTpMkIEU

As IJR Red reported, Ocasio-Cortez recently called the border detention centers “concentration camps” due to the living conditions of detained immigrants. However, Kennedy claimed that Ocasio-Cortez is showing how hypocritical she is by not supporting a funding bill.

IJR Reports:

“The hypocrisy is breathtaking,” Kennedy said.

Kennedy claimed that Ocasio-Cortez’s rhetoric didn’t match her actions when addressing the border crisis.

“On the one hand, she says you are running a concentration camp, and then she refuses to provide the president with the money to enlarge the facilities,” said Kennedy.

He questioned what the representative was thinking, saying that she’s more well-known for extreme views than thoroughly thinking through them.

“I realize that she thinks socialism and illegal immigration and abortion are moral goods but we’ve got a huge problem we are trying to solve here. The congresswoman has basically demagogued the whole thing and I’ve just about concluded she’s more famous than wise.”

Acting Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Commissioner John Sanders begged Congress to pass a bill that would give billions of dollars in funding to address the crisis and help to provide adequate care to immigrants.

“The death of a child is always a terrible thing, but here is a situation where, because there is not enough funding … they can’t move the people out of our custody,” Sanders told the AP in a recent interview.

As IJR Red noted, government agencies would have completely run out of money by next week if a spending bill had not been passed. The House voted on Tuesday to pass the bill, which will provide $4.5 billion in aid to the border.
