Only two candidates will be on stage during the first presidential debate — Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.
The Commission on Presidential Debates announced Friday that Libertarian Gary Johnson and Green Party nominee Jill Stein didn’t make the cut for the Sept. 26 showdown because neither reached a minimum 15 percent threshold in major national polls.
The VP debate on Oct. 4 will also be a two-candidate affair, with Democrat Tim Kaine and Republican Mike Pence.
The commission said polling averages put Clinton at 43 percent, Trump at 40.4 percent, Johnson at 8.4 percent and Stein at 3.2 percent.
The commission said it would review the criteria for the second and third debates in the future.
Johnson had previously said that his campaign would be doomed if he couldn’t get exposure in what is expected to be one of the most watched debates in history.
