Donald Trump declared that Bill Clinton “torched” President Obama and harmed Hillary Clinton by criticizing Obamacare during a recent campaign event.
During his second rally of the day before supporters in Reno, Nev., Trump focused on Obamacare during the opening portion of his speech, using comments made by the former president as a crutch. He was pointing to Clinton saying recently that Obamacare is the “craziest thing in the world,” which the former president has tried to walk back. However, the Trump campaign already seized upon the comment, with the candidate himself saying that Clinton blew it by making the comment.
“Oh, did Bill Clinton blow it. Woah, did he blow it,” Trump told supporters in Reno, reiterating his plan to repeal and replace Obamacare.
“President Clinton has come and told the truth about Obamacare. In all fairness, he told the truth. Two days ago, President Clinton came out and torched President Obama’s signature legislation,” Trump said. “Remember Hillary Clinton called Obamacare one of the greatest accomplishments of the president, of the Democratic Party and our country? Except it doesn’t work. It’s a disaster. It’s costing everybody, including our country, a fortune.”
“Bill has a different view! Oh, did he suffer. Can you imagine when he walked home to that beautiful home in Westchester and he said, ‘Hi Hillary. How was your day?'” Trump said imitating the former president. “Oh, did he suffer.”
“Bill called it a system, a crazy system, and said that it’s the craziest thing in the world. People out there, he said, are busting it, sometimes 60 hours a week and wind up with their premiums doubled and their coverage cut in half. The people getting cut in this deal are the small business people and the individuals who make just a bit too much money to get any of these subsidies,” Trump said. “This is Bill Clinton! … This is him, this isn’t Trump. This is Bill Clinton, and he added, ‘it doesn’t make any sense.’ And that insurance model, it just doesn’t work.”
