The president-elect shut down detractors who are freaking out that he accepted a congratulatory call from Taiwanese president Tsai Ing-wen by saying he won’t ask China for permission to talk to anyone because they certainly didn’t ask for our permission before taking actions that hurt the U.S. economy.

The media-driven controversy erupted Friday after Trump announced on Twitter that he had taken a call from the democratically-elected Taiwanese president.
The United States does not have formal diplomatic relations with Taiwan because of the “one China” policy that has been in place since 1979. The policy is based on China’s claim that Taiwan is a part of China. Taiwan begs to differ.
China has since filed a formal complaint about the call. And of course, liberal media are sounding the alarms, claiming Trump’s purported snub will destroy U.S. relations with China and lead to World War III.
The media outrage has gotten so over the top that even Bill Burton — a Trump critic and former deputy White House press secretary under President Obama —was disgusted.
Seriously.
I’m worried to go to sleep for fear that the world might not make it through the night because of a phone call. https://t.co/hv9umod6Kk

Others on Twitter also expressed their annoyance with the media-fueled faux controversy.
