The day after Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump collected all the delegates in the Indiana state primary and eliminated the remaining competitors from the field, the front pages of the two New York tabloids nailed the salient messages of the day.
The first cover, tweeted by @nypost shows its cover of the freshly anointed one, gleefully celebrating his stellar victory.
The second cover, tweeted by @NYDailyNews of its cover of the demise the Republican Party earned for itself. It cites the “epidemic of Trump” killed it off. More likely, the Trump epidemic mercifully finished it off.
The Republican Party almost certainly sealed its fate in 2014 by not executing on the mandate it was given by voters to change Washington D.C. with a majority in both the House and the Senate. Instead, it maintained its rubber stamp status as the [slightly more] conservative wing of the Demopublican Party promoting the progressive agenda.
The voters have spoken.
