With an approval rating of just under 15% among active-duty members within the U.S. armed forces, it’s easy to see why brave men and woman in uniform feel betrayed by the Obama administration.
U.S. Marine Manny E. Vega decided to express his displeasure with a trip to the White House just before dawn. He wanted to exercise his “constitutionally guaranteed rights of speech and assembly.”
In order to test these rights, he brought his loud-speaker and started telling Obama just what he though, shouting into the speaker:
“Time to resign, Mr. President, time to resign.”
Obama’s approval rating sank from 35% in a 2009 Military Times polls to the current record low. At the same time, his disapproval rating, soared from 40% in 2009 to 55% this year.
The Military Times survey also found a declining approval rating among veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan saying:
“Morale in the military is swiftly sinking, with the troops losing both their sense of mission and their faith that their superiors, political leaders — and the nation — still have their best interests at heart,” the Times said in its exhaustive report entitled, “A force adrift: How the nation is failing its troops and veterans.”
Vega has been a vocal advocate for veterans. Do you agree with him?
