After U.S. women’s soccer star Megan Rapinoe declared she’s “not going to the f***ing White House” if the team wins the World Cup, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) has stepped in to invite the team to tour Congress, according to The Hill.
Ocasio-Cortez extended the invitation after the U.S. women’s national team won it’s quarterfinals match against France 2-1, with Rapinoe scoring both U.S. goals.
“It may not be the White House, but we’d be happy to welcome @mPinoe & the entire #USWMNT for a tour of the House of Representatives anytime they’d like,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted Friday.
Rapinoe replied shortly after, saying “Consider it done.”

The controversy between President Donald Trump and Rapinoe began when Rapinoe was seen saying on a video that she’s “not going to the f***ing White House if her team won the World Cup.
President Trump replied that Rapinoe needed to focus on winning the tournament first.
“…leagues and teams love coming to the White House,” Trump tweeted. “I am a big fan of the American Team, and Women’s Soccer, but Megan should WIN first before she TALKS! Finish the job! We haven’t yet invited Megan or the team, but I am not inviting the TEAM, win or lose. Megan should never disrespect our Country, the White House, or our Flag, especially since so much has been done for her & the team. Be proud of the Flag that you wear. The USA is doing GREAT!”

Rapinoe rejected the invite Thursday, saying she “stand[s] by the comments that I made about not wanting to go to the White House.”
