The Hospital Run By Doctors Without Borders Has Been Completely Destroyed
A new airstrike in Syria hit a hospital and reportedly killed dozens of people. Dramatic video shows victims being pulled from the rubble and the frantic search for survivors. Doctors Without Borders says its hospital in a rebel-held part of Aleppo was completely destroyed and at least three of the eight doctors working at the Al Quds hospital in a rebel-held area of Aleppo were killed in the attack Wednesday night.
It was not immediately clear who was behind the attack but sources on the ground claim the attack came from Russia.
A Syrian military source told Reuters that government warplanes had not been used in areas where airstrikes were reported. According to the news agency, the defense ministry of Russia, could not be reached for comment. The ministry has been conducting airstrikes in Syria to support President Bashar Assad.
The chief Syrian opposition negotiator Mohammed Alloush blamed the government of President Bashar Assad for the deadly airstrikes. He told The Associated Press that the latest violence by government forces shows negotiations, such as the February talks that led to a short-lived cease fire, are not realistic.
Mohammed Alloush, chief Syrian opposition negotiator told the AP:
“Whoever carries out these massacres needs a war tribunal and a court of justice to be tried for his crimes. He does not need a negotiating table.”
Also known as Médecins Sans Frontières, Doctors Without Borders spokesman said it was “outraged” by the incident.
