It seems like we’ve all gone PC crazy. Ellen Pompeo put up a tweet that included a black emoji and got pounded for 3 hours! People got offended that Pompeo used the wrong colored emoji even though she has a black husband and black kids.
Thank U @aetv for caring enough to make changes ????????????????A&E Changes ‘Generation KKK’ Title | Variety https://t.co/bvwsLCKDZ6

The “Grey’s Anatomy” star tweeted in response to a news story about the A&E network changing the name of its “Generation KKK” show. Pompeo added two “black emojis” to her tweet and instantly triggered someone.
With her account now protected, @sarahsdrew fired off a tweet calling the actress out for her “inappropriate” use of emojis.
Were you ever so woke that you advocated for emoji segregation? pic.twitter.com/A5vh91m6gF
— neontaster (@neontaster) December 24, 2016
It seems like people want segregation back. Maybe different bathrooms for black and white?!? I mean, this is crazy? Right?
“Don’t be a hater,” Pompeo responded with another tweet.
Don’t be a hater I do it because racism is not just a black problem it is all of our problem get it??? https://t.co/GehrNAHIOa
— Ellen Pompeo (@EllenPompeo) December 23, 2016
All that seemed to do was to inflame the situation and unleash more hate, which the 47-year-old actress quickly addressed.
SHUT UP, WHITE LADY. https://t.co/vSNMF4r2YM
— Apollo (@VirgoanKing) December 23, 2016
That’s white lady with a black husband and black children to you babe ???? https://t.co/BTQuSHJ1sr
— Ellen Pompeo (@EllenPompeo) December 23, 2016
Even that wasn’t enough…
you realize that you pulled the “i have black friends” card, right @EllenPompeo
— laur loves sanvers (@PARlS_GELLER) December 23, 2016
It’s not so much you using the black emojis as it is your response to people who expressed concern about it, @EllenPompeo
— Monique Judge (@thejournalista) December 24, 2016
You can’t be like “My husband and kids are black” AND be dismissive of the concerns of black people when they express to you. @EllenPompeo
— Monique Judge (@thejournalista) December 24, 2016
And of course, the White Privilege Card,
That entire stance comes from a position of your privilege as a white woman. Don’t do this. Please. @EllenPompeo
— Monique Judge (@thejournalista) December 24, 2016
What’s crazy is how angry everyone is… this is all about emojis people
— Ellen Pompeo (@EllenPompeo) December 23, 2016
And you reducing the argument down to it being just about emoji usage is gaslighting and dismissive. @EllenPompeo
— Monique Judge (@thejournalista) December 24, 2016
There were a few Twitter users who found the whole argument absurd over the color of emojis and so, Pompeo eventually offered an apology to anyone who may have been offended.
Wait. So @EllenPompeo has been engaged in a 3-hour Twitter battle over the use of these emojis? THREE HOURS?! That’s almost a round of golf! https://t.co/N2cPGmFnEx
— rolandsmartin (@rolandsmartin) December 24, 2016
@rolandsmartin @EllenPompeo @AETV wait, people got mad bc she used brown emojis??? People have waaay too much time on their hands!!!
— kim washington (@kimcwashington) December 24, 2016
It was a really positive thing a&e did… now that’s not the focus ..my fault for responding
— Ellen Pompeo (@EllenPompeo) December 23, 2016
I’m so sad that people attacked me over standing up for equality I’m sad that people chose anger and I’m sorry if I offended anyone
— Ellen Pompeo (@EllenPompeo) December 23, 2016
Sickening the way @EllenPompeo is being attacked, especially when the people attacking her are the same people shes trying to defend
— Brandon Munson (@Chedda_F_BoB) December 24, 2016
It’s so true so much hate in the world we are all doomed seriously https://t.co/x7miltVLrF
